The Egyptian Coil wire technique has been around since at least 3,000 BC and makes a beautiful, strong, yet supple chain. This style of jewelry, often made of copper or brass, has been found in Mesopotamian and Egyptian tombs and was mostly used for personal adornment. In this class, you will learn to create the coiled links and connect them to your own piece of history.
Instructor Bio
"As a mostly self-taught artist, I understand how difficult it can be to get started on developing necessary skills to create your own wearable works of art.
I have been dabbling with a wide range of art and craft projects all my life, and have always gravitated back to handmade jewelry and working with wire. I have been making jewelry since 2000 and my favorite technique is the Viking Wire Weave (Knit) which I learned at the University of Ithra through the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) in 1998.
I discovered that I love teaching others and have done so since 2001. I am most inspired by helping others discover and develop their own creativity and hope to bring inspiration to those just beginning their artistic journey." -Denise "Dee" Townsend - Whims in Wire ~ handcrafts by Dee
